Lovely little gem of a cottage,in a gorgeous location my kids apsolutley loved it will definitely be back next year xx brought all my own childhood memories back of what a summer holiday should be xx the owners are very keen to help if you need anything x Thankyou very much Jo xxx Heidi and family The Spencer's x.

We had a wonderful week at The Haven this fabulous cottage is just what we were looking for, very clean and very comfortable with everything you would need. The conservatory overlooking the beach and the sea was our favourite room, looking out over the sea waiting for the herons usual early morning and evening arrival and because the weather was so good it was clear enough to see to the isle of man.

To go to bed and hear nothing but the sound of the waves gently lapping at the shore "Pure Bliss" This is a gem of a cottage , we will be back. Our stay at the Haven was just Wonderful! We went as a family with 2 adults and 3 children and it was loved by all. It was much bigger than I expected and very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided and much more! The Wifi was excellent and it was a lovely touch having the incoming calls only landline as neither of our mobiles had a signal.

We had a small question so I emailed the owner and she called straight away and it was sorted out! The area is lovely and we found lots to do with the kids as well as making lots of sandcastles! We were blessed with lovely sunny weather for most of our stay. We did find it quite difficult to find the property until I remembered a review I had read about it being accessed via the neighbours garden.

We had a food delivery from Asda which was the only supermarket that would deliver to the postcode. We would recommend and I am sure we will return! We stayed at The Haven for one week from 11th April , what sells this cottage is the beautiful location so peaceful and quiet right beside the beach.

The cottage was clean and had been freshly painted. The cottage benefits from very good Wi-Fi. Although there is no phone signal there is a landline which will receive incoming calls. There is a very large fridge which was very handy.

The three bed rooms benefit from beautiful views of the sea, there is no bunk beds in the third room as in the photo, and this is now a single bed with pull out underneath. The cottage although in such a beautiful location would benefit we felt from a little upgrading such as central heating although there is a mixture of different plug in heaters and a calor gas heater which we could move around.

Also a wardrobe to hang up clothes would be handy and the T. When booking I would recommend you book through a booking company i. We were told this would be returned to us when the good housekeeping deposit was returned after out stay. The Haven is set in such a lovely location not to be beaten. We really enjoyed the conservatory listening to the sea and looking at the night sky. Ideal if you looking to get away from it all. Nothing but the sound of the sea and the birds. All rooms have sea views.

My favourite was the conservatory. Parking and a nice enclosed garden so safe for young children. Gate leads directly onto beach. Mostly stones and rocks with a stretch of sand when the tide is out. The only thing I would complain about is towels not being provided and a welcome pack would have been nice.

Also access to the cottage is via neighbours drive which wasn't mentioned. Other then that we had a fantastic holiday. Rented the cottage 28th June - 4th July for 2 adults and 3 children aged 7, 6 and 1. Booking was easy and straightforward. Reading the reviews and online description we were very excited, and were not disappointed.

Cottage was much bigger than anticipated, well equipped and clean. Kids were over the moon with the bunk beds, the beach and the very large enclosed garden. Husband spent most nights in between world cup games out trying to catch a sea bass as the garden gate is directly onto the beach.

This suited me brilliantly. Young baby put to bed after an exhausting day of fresh air, older 2 kids watching their DVDs tv is a dvd combi - but bring your own DVDs and I worked my way through book after book loads of book within the cottage for you to borrow which was excellent. Hubby did catch dogfish, bleny and flouder.

Rabbits also in the garden, which the kids loved. We also tried the StrEatery retro caravan restaurant which was okay. We didn't make it to the Monreith Animal Park which is only 5 minutes along the road. All-in-all a fabulous time had in and around the cottage. This is a perfect location for a stress-free time out.

Hmmm a hairdryer would be a welcome addition as I forgot mine, and a better tin opener - really struggled and had to use hubby's army knife.

All amenities provided are great. The washing machine meant all washings could be done before heading home. Absolutely - no question of a doubt!! TripAdvisor uses cookies to improve your site experience.

Please try again later. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Wendell Berry is one of my favorite authors whether he is writing fiction, poetry or essays on environmental and farming issues. This book is short stories set in Port William. If you haven't read the series you should, everyone I know who has read them loved them.

If you get a chance to hear Wendell Berry speak, take advantage, he doesn't do many public appearances, but he's a very interesting speaker. One person found this helpful. Its tough to offer an accolade about Wendel Berry not already said. His ongoing stories of the people of Port William lead and sustain us like a fine handcrafted walking stick or leather belt a key missing prop in one very humorous story.

Each word is carefully placed in a stone wall of literary greatness destined to last forever. And then there is the beauty of his writing, returning me to passages to read again, even three times.

Berry makes me want to be a good writer and live a life grounded in family and friends. Stories written by Wendell Berry bring back memories of a time when life was simple compared to modern days, and when you reach the age of 77, as I have, you have a tendency to wish for the simpler life.

While I do enjoy the niceties such as electricity, modern transportation, and the ability to turn a dial and warm our home, I believe we were better off not knowing instantly all the horrors that occur around the world over which we have no control.

So I welcome Wendell Berry's books and hope for many more! Start with story one in which an extraordinary year-old, Rebecca Dawe, faces down the Confederacy, and then discover, one story later, how her dying mother personally saved her husband from conscription into that evil.

Berry is the only American writer alive who has the moral depth and grandeur of a Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson. Don't go another day without the companionship of this great novelist, essayist and all-round luminous man of letters. I think this is the place to start with Berry - a wonderful introduction. Some of the stories are simply beautiful. Some are laugh-out-loud funny. All are smart and deftly drawn. Move on from here to the novels, which are also excellent.

I have to admit that despite the enormous volume of his writings anything Wendell Berry writes I am pleased. I must share his view of the world: This is a great place to begin if this is your first work of his. These short stories are many wonderful things in small bites. Read one a night and sleep well. Wendell Berry is arguably our greatest living author and definitely the sanest.

Exquisitely crafted essays, every sentence is filled with wise experience and warmth of heart. WB for president of the world! This is an American treasure.
