The pass-through fireplace and an additional cozy seating area adds to the welcoming ambience of the sunny dining space on the deck. Brick soldiers and stone add detail to arches and columns on the front porch. Having the skills to conceptualize that vision is a valuable talent — a talent Shanon and Tanya Durham are fortunate to possess. It was a challenge that Tanya, a third-generation homebuilder, and Shanon, her construction project manager husband, were ready to tackle.
The Durhams set about remodeling the 1,square-foot, two-bedroom home into an inviting space for their family of six. The remodel began in July with the family moving into the home and expanded to 2, square feet in November Foregoing a change in the roof line, the Durhams opted to give the home a Craftsman feel by utilizing an open floor plan to help use space effectively and replicating many of the architectural designs, including the iconic square porch pillars and interior Craftsman doors and trim.
Having been through various remodels in previous homes, in addition to their work expertise, the Durhams were prepared for what a remodel entailed. Plus, they were able to do much of the work themselves. You have to be prepared to change your plans. The wiring was redone. New plumbing was installed, as was a new cooling and heating system.
In gutting the house, one surprise the Durhams found was the living room ceiling. Flow was created by the L-shaped placement of the great room, kitchen and dining room. Both women like using colors and two-toning kitchens to add a. Stainless steel appliances and granite countertops gleam in the remodeled kitchen. DKB assisted with the project and proposed the stacked cabinetry for the space. Remodeling meant gutting the home. Even the living room ceiling joists required a lift.
Tanya loved the look of stacked cabinetry with lighting, so Schneller incorporated that into the kitchen design. Space is a hot commodity for a large family, so making the most of the available space is imperative. Deep drawers in the island for pots and pans help make this a functional and user-friendly kitchen. With that adjustment to their plan, Tanya created the cubby she wanted while utilizing negative space. By dividing up the once large living space, a master bedroom was added.
Sliding glass doors were replaced with windows, and a coffered ceiling was created. A master bath with a large glass enclosed shower with pebbled floor and two sink vanities round out the master suite. The upper level — originally two bedrooms, a bathroom and a lot of unused space — became four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large hall closet.
Mercedes, 13, and Madeline, 11, both have rooms that were framed out of the previous unused space. The master bath features a spacious glass-enclosed shower and cherry wood cabinetry. His and her vanities in the master bath. Remodeling the master bedroom entailed replacing sliding glass doors with windows and created a coffered ceiling.
The front door shows off geometric-shaped patterns and clean, simple lines, classic Craftsman characteristics. By combining their vision with their knowledge, skills and preferences, the Durham family turned an older home into a modern dwelling designed for efficiency, comfort and style.
Daughter Taylor helped decorate her room with polka-dot style. The exterior of the s-built home received a stone facelift. Most people are not aware of their sweet scent. They are a simple, common flower that has been around for a long time, and for me, there is a great sense of nostalgia about them. They can be planted fairly early in spring or early fall.
They will live through the summer heat but bloom the most during the spring and fall seasons. The blooms tend to burn up in the summer, but the snapdragon will start looking good again in the cool of the fall. Pinch them back, and they will grow more shoots and have many more flowers.
I can leave for a week, and when I return to my garden, my begonias are happily waiting for me. I plant my begonias with cotton burr compost and do not use any other fertilization. They are a real treat. They will fill your garden with color May to October. No care is required other than trimming in the spring or winter.
If you cut them back to 6 to 12 inches when everything is dormant, they will maintain 3- to 4-foot size in your landscape. The bright red and yellow contrast is stunning. As far as native plants to Missouri, this is one of a small handful that has true red color. It is also rare and can be hard to find in nurseries.
Plant in part shade, use 2 inches of mulch, water when you plant it, and water a couple of times a week for the next two weeks. Then just enjoy it because there is no more maintenance. Where you plant is critical to azaleas.
The north side of the house is usually good for protection from the sun. Apply a wilt-proof product in the cold months to protect the leaves from winter burn. Its success is dependent upon the participation of all members of our community. As our sophomore students voiced issues they wanted to discuss during advisory period, between 60 and 70 percent of them said they had been bullied in our building.
It was alarming to both teachers and students when so many hurt students raised their hands. Bullying is a problem in schools everywhere and has become an issue spotlighted in the media. As a team we decided we would use CharacterPlus, tying in with our seventh-grade curriculum, to help our kids with the issues of bullying. Having just finished our unit on China, we decided to show clips from the new Karate Kid movie, which takes place in China.
In the movie, Mr. Han has many sayings to teach his student Dre Parker that were very similar to the sayings taught by Confucius. Classmates bully Dre, and Mr. Han teaches him Kung Fu. We stressed that we cannot always control our circumstances, but we can control how we react to them.
As teachers, we began asking them to brainstorm and choose areas of interest. We wanted the entire body of action to clearly be studentled and student-driven. Students and teachers conducted research in several area — film clips, short articles, facts, statistics and the law — all culminating in students and faculty taking an anti-bullying pledge.
After compiling the whole project and giving it to faculty advisors, these sophomores circulated the information among sophomores, juniors and seniors and proposed that their fellow students sign on against bullying. At the end, 1, people agreed not to bully out of 1, students at Jefferson City High School. Never again will these sophomores look at their school in the same way. They took off their rose-colored glasses and dealt with reality.
As students watched clips from the movie, they compared our society to that of current-day China, where Dre lived. Then they were given a list of sayings from Mr. The students discussed with peers at their table the quotes about bullying and respect. At the end of the lesson, students made posters with their group on different ways to prevent bullying, consequences of bullying and how to deal with bullying.
Then as individuals, the students voted for the resolutions that they, themselves, were willing to make about bullying and respect. But several Jefferson City area human resource professionals say that companies are still in search of qualified, dedicated employees. Jefferson City Magazine Successfully completing an application or submitting a resume is the first step toward employment. It is also a chance to make a great first impression. Antonio Sykes, a recruiter at Capital Region Medical Center who spends his days sifting through stacks of resumes and applications, looks for candidates who are willing to go to the extra mile.
These candidates have correct dates in their work history, include active and accurate telephone numbers for previous employers and have made sure that the contact information they are providing for references is up-to-date. For those with gaps in employment due to the economy, Sykes suggests disclosing that information on a resume or application.
There is no right or wrong answer, but hiring managers want to hire candidates who are enthusiastic about the company and the job. Sharpe says she can tell immediately whether someone has prepared for an interview.
The interview is a time to brag about your accomplishments and your successes. Any candidate sitting in front of Sharpe for an interview could end up serving as a role model for children in the Jefferson City Public Schools.
Therefore, she says she looks for candidates who show up for an interview looking professional. Sykes recommends wearing a suit in a dark color, such as charcoal gray, black or dark brown.
A professional look for men is a white dress shirt, navy suit, red tie and black shoes. For women, he suggests a navy suit or dress and a white blouse with black or brown shoes.
Keep in mind that it is always better to be overdressed than undressed. Having questions at the end of an interview shows a real interest in the position, and it tells interviewers that you did enough homework on the company to come up with good questions. Even if the interviewer has already answered the questions during the course of the interview, Sharpe advises interviewees to put the questions on the table.
Although employers are trying to weed out candidates to find the right fit for the position and the company, it is also important that job seekers get the information they need to determine whether the position is a good fit for them. Sykes suggests questions such as: How long has this position been available?
What is the next step after our interview? What are you looking for that would help me be successful here? One topic that should never come up in an interview, however, is salary. Any discussions about compensation should come after a job offer is presented. There have been countless times when, after five interviews for one position, the team says they only wish they could hire every candidate, Sharpe says.
But with limited openings, not everyone can get a job offer. How do you choose the winners? Readers fill out paper ballots or on our website: The ones with the most votes win.

It was my first time trying tapenade and Stilton with cranberries, and I fell madly in love with them both. We spent an entire spring evening sipping chardonnay and chatting.
The food is outstanding, but it is the atmosphere, warm service and lively conversation that make CORK a gem. Try finding a job after serving time. Shortly after The Redeem Project opened its doors in Jefferson City in May , a man who had spent 28 years in prison walked through them.

Patrick Miller, owner of Sweet Chipotle Catering, has been getting more and more requests from brides for upscale menus at a reasonable price. When it comes to food, brides are trying to set themselves apart by steering away from more traditional menus and buffets.
Cupcakes have been hot for a couple of years, and brides continue to request smaller tiered wedding cakes for the traditional cake cutting and cupcakes for serving guests. Cupcakes are easy to serve and perfectly portioned. Those brides who do opt for a wedding cake are still staying away from cakes with a more traditional look and going for themed cakes or cakes that are asymmetrical.
Another hot color scheme is a combination of vibrant oranges and hot pinks. The only thing that makes the combination more fabulous, Halstead says, is when oranges and pinks are accented with lime green. The mismatched containers give off a romantic, gardenparty vibe. And by keeping the length right below or right above the knee, bridesmaid dresses can be worn again for another occasion. Gone are the days when brides only wore white shoes. These days, brides are showing off their personality by choosing something with a little more personality, such as red or hot pink shoes, says Deborah Whitfield-Koger, owner of La Maison.
Cascading bouquets are back in style, and many brides are requesting flowing waterfall-like bouquets with an unconstructed look, Halstead says.
Some brides are opting for more of a textured look by choosing nontraditional bouquets of greenery, berries and leaves. And others are choosing romantic, casual bouquets of hydrangeas, peonies and garden roses.
One of the hottest flowers right now is an anemone, a beautiful flower with a striking black center and four delicate petals. But when it comes to flowers, Halstead suggests following your heart. Spa Bridal Parties Prefer to chill out instead of the crazy bar scene? Available services include mini-versions of manicures, pedicures, facials, blow-dry and makeup to leave the bride and her crew looking fabulous. What dress makes a bride feel the prettiest?
Which accents her best feature? Which fits her personality and style? Both Allison and Metternich encourage brides to bring along one or two trusted friends or family members who can help in decision-making. Just be careful not to bring a crowd; having multiple opinions will only make decision-making more difficult. Wedding dresses can take months to arrive, so Allison recommends purchasing a dress at least eight months before the wedding if time permits.
That allows plenty of time for the dress to arrive and for alterations. Every bride should have her dress professionally altered to fit her figure, Metternich says. It is especially important to find a seamstress who is trained to work on wedding dresses.
Many bridal salons have seamstresses on site who are well versed in the art of fitting wedding dresses. The hardest part about picking a wedding date is coordinating the ceremony site and the reception site, says Jenne Parker, director of catering at Capital Plaza. Ask how much preparation and decoration time is allowed, Deborah Whitfield-Koger of La Maison, a local wedding venue, says.
Setting up formal tables is very time consuming, so make sure there is enough time set aside to transform the venue. Some venues take care of set-up, and some accommodate decorating upon request. Clarify who is responsible for each aspect, recommends Parker. When planning a reception, price is one of the biggest factors, Parker says.
Many venues will have standard wedding packages, but many offer custom options. Every bride should make sure she understands what is included in her wedding package. Is cakecutting included, or is it an additional fee? Is liquor sold by the pour or by the bottle?
Although a bride or groom never expects wedding-day mishaps, Whitfield-Koger strongly encourages couples to inquire what happens in the event of damages to the venue.
La Maison requires a certificate of liability insurance, which provides protection for both the venue and the clients. Wedding photographs will be a lifelong memory from the big day, so first and foremost, hire a professional. Sure, family members can save you a bundle, says Nichole Manner of Iris Photography, but professional photographers know how to read the light, work with angles, pose the bride and groom to get the best images and, in general, are better equipped to capture the unique nuances of the wedding day.
A professional hair stylist and makeup artist know what looks good on camera, and many of them will provide a consultation prior to the wedding day. Plus, having a professional on board can help eliminate unexpected results and wedding-day time constraints, says Travis Duncan of Duncan Photography. Schedule an engagement session. An engagement session is a great way to get to know your wedding photographer, and they are often complimentary, Manner says. Meeting with the photographer in advance helps establish a game plan for the wedding day.
Bring a pair of flip flops or other comfortable shoes to change into; pack a touch-up kit with powder, lipstick and hairspray; and remember to eat breakfast and stay hydrated. Nichols even suggests popping pain reliever before heading down the aisle. When the big day finally arrives after months and months of preparation and planning, try to relax.
Chris Holloway of Pro Photo recommends letting others handle the last-minute details on the wedding day. What is your favorite moment so far? My husband and I agreed that our favorite moment so far is that Sam recently started giving hugs. The first time he leaned in and gave us a big bear hug just melted our hearts completely. He hugs all his classmates, family, stuffed animals, pets, and anyone else that will stand still long enough. We just love it!
Try to enjoy everything because they grow very quickly! What surprised you most about being parents? I was so nervous about what to do after she came. The biggest surprise was that I just felt like I knew what to do immediately. How has being a parent changed you? What has surprised you most about being parents? The thing that surprised me the most about being a parent is the amount of love you have for someone you have just met.

We felt right at home the minute we walked in! I travel to Jefferson City frequently and usually get a hotel room. The hotels could learn a thing or two from folks like this! Great experience if you are looking for a clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay! The pictures are pretty accurate of the room. It's super clean and beautiful!
And their dog Maggie is the best, most loveable and smart dog! I appreciated so much their flexible check-in times. Since the moment I arrived, to the moment I left they were so hospitable and awesome, like we had been friends before. They are veteran Airbnb and what stands out to me the most is their belief and trust in humanity, they are so inspiring.
They truly open their home to guests and make them feel like family. The room is on the main floor and is so thoughtfully equipped with toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, razor and shower items. They took very good care of me, and set the bar very high for my future Airbnb travels, as this was my first Airbnb booking ever.
Missy and Joe are wonderful hosts. Their home is nice. They are located in a quite, older, and established area of Jeff city. I will be staying there again. Missy and Joe were very welcoming and made me feel comfortable staying in their home. I was able to easily use the kitchen. The bedroom and bath were clean and comfortable. Simple, pleasant, cost effective stay in Jefferson City. This house was so cute and so comfortable! The bedroom was very pretty, the bed was awesome and comfortable, and the sitting room would have been a great place to hang out and read if I had not had so many things to do.
I did enjoy coffee on the beautiful deck one morning. Missy and Joe and their dog Preston were very great hosts! Missy's place was very clean and true to the description.
I enjoyed my stay very much and got caught up on some needed work in a quiet relaxing environment. Missy gave me the best dinner recommendation downtown which gave me time to explore all the wonderful landmarks of the capital.
Close to Lincoln U, where I was attending a conference. Nice space and good location, as described. She was a friendly host and offered a bunch of sweet touches, like cookies and lemonade right when you walk in. The house itself was comfortable and had all the amenities that we could have needed for the weekend. Overall, I enjoyed the trip and would recommend staying there!
What a great experience! Beautiful setting with great views! Home was very clean and comfortable. Perfect spot for our Girls retreat! Secluded and quiet, perfect for a family or group with a small child. The place was better than advertised, the owners are as nice as you could hope for, and the entire experience has been awesome. Definitely will stay here again. Heather's place was clean, welcoming, and well-equipped.
Beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space. We spent a lot of time on the back deck enjoying the lovely weather and the view, and even took a swim in the pond. Although we did not use them, there was a wide selection of DVDs we could have watched and we were able to play our own CDs on their nice sound system.
Heather responded to all my questions very quickly, and gave a good orientation to the house and grounds. This is a lovely place to stay. I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone visiting the area. This place is amazing. It was clean, comfortable and relaxing.
Everything was first class. We sat on the back deck and watched the fireflies at night. Wish we could have stayed longer. Heather's place is the perfect getaway. Beautiful house on a beautiful countryside! Perfect place if you want to bring your kids with you! Breathtaking sunsets while overlooking the pond! Couldn't be more pleased with our stay! Will definitely be going back: The house was exactly as described and very comfortable for our group.
We will be back in the future when we are in the area visiting family. Heather's house is immaculate, well-adorned, and comfortable. It was particularly fitting for our two young boys, presently 7 and 2, because it is childproof, has a nursery with a crib, changing table and a rocking chair, as well as, toys and books.
The location is ideal because you get to experience the country while being close to both Columbia and Fulton. Pam's place is nice. Her cat greeted us by the door and he is very friendly. The bed is very comfortable and bedsheets are so soft to lay on. For the price we paid, it's definetly a good deal! It's a quiet neighborhood and parking is just across her house. I highly recommend to try her place, you will like it. Pam communicated with us the whole time making sure we're comfortable and if we need anything.
Had an amazing stay. Everything I needed was available. Great location, I would highly recommend this location. The house is very charming s bungalow.
Beautiful - in my opinion. Oscar is friendly and spry. This is an amazing space! Very roomy, lots of games, amenities and a pool table! Very relaxing space in a great neighborhood! My stay here was perfect. The location is just far enough from town to feel convenient and enjoy quiet at the same time. The hosts are helpful and responsive, while the space is spotless. I look forward to returning on my next visit. This was my inaugural stay at an Airbnb property.
My stay at Holly's and Erics was awesome! I was in Jeff City for business and needed a nice quiet place to stay. Their space was perfect! It was much bigger than expected. It could accommodate a whole family if needed. I had my own driveway to park my vehicle. The internet speed was plenty for my business needs, and the kitchen was fully stocked everything you would require to be comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Holly and Eric were super friendly and nice.
I highly recommend their Airbnb for your next visit to Jefferson City or even Columbia. Very spacious and clean! The kitchen was stocked with snacks! Enjoyed the pool table. Would definitely stay there again! Our stay was awesome! We needed to check in late, and Holly and Eric were very accommodating.
The space was very clean and spacious. Lots of movies and games available, as well. Holly and Eric's place was exactly as pictured - quiet lovely home, clean and had everything I needed and more! Communication was great with the friendly hosts and I would recommend making a stop at Binder Lake- 5 mins away from their home.
I would definitely stay with them again and I highly recommend booking with them! Marrianne was an amazing host! She and Mike were friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed and our weekend there was a great experience! Will definately stay again! I only needed a place to crash for the night but Pam's place was super cozy, clean, and welcoming. Oscar the cat made a great welcoming committee and all the little touches around the house made for a very comfortable stay.
This exceeded my expectations in every way. This home is very nice and comfortable, especially for the price! Very cute and cozy space in a quiet residential neighborhood a short drive from downtown! The place was clean and very comfortable and there was coffee and breakfast available in the morning. And what a deal!
Our room was clean and the check-in was very easy. The common areas were spacious and I do appreciate the coffee in the morning. The house was central to everything downtown which has numerous restaurant opportunities. The host was responsive and did take care of our issue with the renters above us. Peggy is an amazing host and will make every effort to satisfy needs or welcome you to the area! The house is very clean and has everything you need, especially for an extended stay.
It was like living in my own home. I look forward to staying here again in the future! The house of Peggy made our visit to Jeffcity perfect. Everything is what your heart desires. A nice house, very clean and with great attention to detail. Reception at check-in was very warm. We have very well cared for and felt. When we return to Jeffcity, we would always stay at Peggy again. Thank you for the hospitality. We had an awesome solar eclipse adventure in Jefferson City and Peggy's place was perfect.
It was very much as advertised and more. Peggy were prompt in her communication and accommodated our late arrival and extended stay after the eclipse. Highly recommend Peggy's place for a short or extended stay in Jefferson City. This home was lovely and clean, with many amenities.
She was also gracious and flexible with us when our check-in time had to change at the last minute. The cold weather prevented us from using the outdoor spaces much, including the pool area, but they are amazing. We needed a place that could easily sleep people who would be in town and Susan's place was one of the first options on the list. The location was great and our guests commented on how nice the place was.
The host was also very quick with communication too! It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing space. Best of both worlds for sure! We will be coming back! Susan's house is beautiful, clean, secluded, yet still close to Columbia and all it has to offer! I'd recommend this house to families needing a large accommodation or a couple just wanting a get-a-way retreat.
If you've looked through the photos I'm sure you've noticed the pool. I didn't get time to enjoy it while I was down but it is the biggest pool I've ever seen at an individuals home!
The whole back yard is just incredible. Susan was an awesome host! She was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for an amazing stay; even had a stack of fire wood set aside in the event that we wanted to have a bon fire Thanks again for the wonderful stay! Next time I come to Columbia I won't even waste my time looking at hotels. Susan has every detail down, you show up she has everything covered!
The space is made for relaxation and is perfect for a large group! This property looks good in photos but is actually MORE beautiful in person. The pool and fire pit are great for group gatherings. Susan had the house stalked with everything we needed and communicated promptly with us. She even had a handyman on site. We had a great stay! The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures.
Would absolutely recommend to stay there! This place is fantastic! This was the perfect place for our guys trip to Columbia. Secluded, but still a short drive or cheap Uber to the stadium and downtown Columbia.
The price was very reasonable and the country setting was great. Matt was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely remember this one for future trips for basketball and football games. Nice, spacious house on scenic land south of town. Big yard and little pond in the back, everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Had a great time for Labor Day weekend with my niece and nephew. They enjoyed the kayaks and he pool table. My dog also loved running around in the back yard and swimming in the pond.
The beds were very comfortable and the house has lots of seating. We will definitely be back! Perfect place for our two large dogs to stay- lots of room to run and explore!
This is a great stay for dog lovers and nature aficionados. The king-sized bed with a view of the pond was wonderful. The many bird feeders provided a lot of great bird watching. There were deer bones and hooves scattered all over the property. Great value, location and amenities!! Karl seemed very conscientious.
Although the home is in a town with not much going on, it is between Jefferson City and Columbia so going to either place is a quick drive. Karl is quick to respond, very accommodating and helpful. His place is clean and comfortable. The room was exactly how it is described.
Definitely would recommend anyone to stay at Karls Home! This is my first reservation and review on Airbnb. Yes, Exactly it was what I need for good sleeps after work. Quiet, clean, and beautiful house. The stay was awesome. What a cozy haven! We really enjoyed our stay in this quiet and comfy home. Very clean, with contemporary touches that made our stay very restful. I had a great stay with Alissa. The rooms where a good size, everything was really clean and the availability of small toiletries was a nice touch.
Alissa was an excellent host. Alissa's place is lovely and very comfortable. She was friendly and hospitable. The rooms were clean. I would recommend her place and would go back there again. The space was beautiful, it was easy checking in and out, and it was a perfect location for what we needed family reunion. Thanks to the hosts for making everything super easy!
Lovely home in a quiet neighborhood. Alissa responds promptly to all communications and was very accommodating to our needs. You will fall in love with the outdoor space! Perfect location for our stay after visiting the University of Missouri.
Alissa and Blake are amazing hosts. They accommodated me and were very friendly. They are down to earth and really chill. The house is so clean and decor is amazing. The house is in a quiet community area and felt safe. Would definitely stay again if I need to. My stay at Virgils place was great. A little different to what I expected but Virgil is an awesome host. He cooked a great meal, was really welcoming. We hung out and watched Comet Tv. I feel we were like old mates in no time at all.
The bed was supper firm but really comfy. If you get a chance to stay with Virgil you should grab it.!! I came to Ashland, MO on a trip to view the solar eclipse. When I showed up at Tamie and Tracy's place, once of the first things I saw inside was an entire "eclipse viewing party kit" they had put together for me, including Sun Chips, Sunkist soda, Moon Pies, Eclipse and Orbit gum, Milky Way bars, and a handful of solar viewing glasses!!
That should tell you a lot about their warmth, thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Their home is very newly constructed in a developing subdivision, and sparkling clean they were vacuuming and washing the garage floor when I pulled up. Refrigerator was spotless with all food neatly packed into bags and containers, and every drawer tidily organized. For first-time hosts I was their very first guest , they really knocked it out of the park!
Bathroom sink had a laminated note with an eclipse image on it, welcoming me and providing info on items in the vanity for me to use. Similar sign was left in the bedroom with important contact numbers, and Tamie also printed out a multiple- page listing of area eclipse events for me. Rooms were fresh-smelling and the bed extremely comfortable. I slept on the bed but tried out the air mattress in the second bedroom and wanted to mention, it's one of those really thick ones so it was very comfortable, too!
When I returned to the house Monday afternoon post-eclipse, they offered me some of the food they had prepared for themselves and a visiting friend - very generous, made me feel right at home. I originally booked this location for 2 nights but decided last-minute to leave early. Would have happily stayed the second night but decided that driving back eastward in the evening was a better idea, and GPS showed a clear path home with no major traffic delays.
I really enjoyed the short time I stayed with Tamie and Tracy — would definitely return again and highly recommend to others! Super-nice people, great home, great location halfway between Jeff City and Columbia.
Understanding and easy to work with. House was very clean and tidy even with a last minute booking. Very attractively decorated and sparkling clean. Lovely bed and sheets. Son said air mattress was comfortable. We enjoyed the high quality towels and toiletries in the bathroom.
Hostesses were very pleasant. Easy to find and actually there was an exit right off the route to their residential street. Found the house quiet and I slept well. Very appreciative for the lovely accommodations. Would absolutely come again. We had a great time at this location. This was our first Airbnb experience and Nikkola certainly impressed us with her accommodations. She was so warm, friendly, and helpful throughout the process.
We will most certainly consider using Airbnb as well as Nikkola for future trips. Nikki is a great host, kept in touch the entire time we were there! The place was clean and nicely decorated! She was checking on us if we have everything we need and provided info about local events going on. We watched the Solar Eclipse right from her driveway and we got lucky with clear sky during totality. We strongly recommend her if anyone is looking for a place to stay in Jefferson City area.
The communication was great and always in a timely manner. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. The value can't be beat! I whould like to thank Wendy for the house it was everything she said it was. I will recommend the house to everyone.
Wendy was a great host and a Pleasure to talk to. This is our second year at this house. It is a great house with everything you could possibly need, and working with Wendy is a pleasure. The place was great, had a lot of room, can accommodate a lot of people very nicely and has great outside amenities, couldn't ask for anything better it was a lot of fun.
Used the space as a place to stay at my son's wedding in the small town of Hartsburg, made it stay perfect. We visited the cabin as a large group and had a lovely time.
The cabin is gorgeous and we loved being in the woods. Wendy is a wonderful host. Everything was super smooth and congenial. We will certainly be back next year! The property was great and more than we expected. It was tucked away in the woods and exactly what we were lookin for. We only wished we could have stayed longer. We had 10 guys staying for a Mizzou football weekend and would definitely stay here again. It was great to go "home" after the game throw some food on the grill and relax.
Any questions we had were answered immediately. Thanks again for you hospitality Wendy! Beautiful home and area. Perfect for any family gatherings or just a place to get away.
Very nice to have space and live in a home atmosphere. Great price and a great host. Beautiful, quiet and secluded setting not far from Jefferson City or events planned.
Shellie and Neil made us feel at home and were very accommodating! I truly appreciate their being kind, gracious hosts! I highly recommend this little piece of heaven! Thanks again Shellie and Neil! If you are looking for a clean, beautiful and quiet place to relax this is your place. My son and I came to stay for two nights to watch the eclipse. Shellie and Neil went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
They even took us on a fun golf cart ride around the neighborhood and the pond. My 7 year old son loved it. They also blew his mind with these magical birthday candle you can light inside and don't burn you.
My son loves it and I loved how special they made him feel. We felt like we were at home here. Don't let this wonderful gem pass you by. Megan and Anthony were incredibly kind and welcoming!
They have a lovely home, the room is huge and comfy, and their kitty is very sweet. I highly recommend a stay with them! Megan and Anthony are very friendly and generous hosts. Anthony met us and gave us a tour of the house. He offered us snacks and beverages. He allowed us time to relax and unwind in the living room as we had just finished a long drive. When our friends arrived no extra charge for them to stay! Megan was away, but Anthony was a flexible and relaxed host. He visited with us and gave us advice on site seeing, but also gave us space to visit our friends without disruption.
We live in an old house and like like the beauty, uniqueness and even quirkiness of old homes. If you want perfection, then you should look for a different place to stay. However, you would be missing out. There is a cat, but it is very sweet and entertaining. Also, Fulton is a great place to visit. There are great shops, good places to eat Becks is fantastic! Outside the church there is even a large piece of the Berlin Wall.
This is shared space situation, but it was a very positive experience. I have never stayed in a Victorian home before and really got a kick out of that. There are many original features in this home. We had the whole upstairs. Good beds with nice sheets, and the air was turned on before we arrived making it more pleasant because of the hot weather on that day. We appreciated the refrigerator in my room, which also had some drinks and water. There was soap and shampoo in the shower.
We enjoyed the town of Fulton, charming with 2 college campuses and cobblestone streets. The host suggested Becks Restaurant downtown for an evening snack, and we enjoyed the environment and food there. I even spent time in the porch swing outside. Hope to use them again when I visit the area. This is an excellent place to stay in Fulton. The couple made you feel welcome but also gave you your space.
The room was large and comfortable and the house was clean and had everything you needed. I only stayed one night at Megan and Anthony's darling home but felt right at home.
Very comfy bed and large space. Hope to stay again in future. I liked the quiet area and Megan and Anthony were great hosts and hostesses.
I really enjoyed the conversations. Megan and Anthony were friendly and communicative. Their home was clean and had a lot of charm, with big bright windows and comfortable beds. The rooms were bigger than we expected, and we appreciated the mini-fridge and in-room Keurig.
They checked with us when we booked regarding what kind of beverages we liked, and had those on hand when we arrived. We wanted to be within walking distance of Westminster College, and this was the perfect location for that. We absolutely loved staying at this house. It is close to the capitol building we walked one day and the pretty part of High Street. The house itself is neat--as Californians, we never get to stay in houses over years old.
We had 12 of us at the house--two families with kids ranging from 2 to 14 years old. The amount of space and beds was perfect. The air conditioning units in each bedroom were great. The kitchen was stocked with all the tools we needed. We wish the house had a washer and dryer for laundry and maybe one more shower, but those items wouldn't keep us from staying here again.
We really liked it. The owners were very nice and helpful and even gave us a trolley ride to the capital one day. Older building but with plenty of history and charm, kept in great condition by the hosts who were welcoming and helpful. This home was so beautiful, and was perfect for our girls night!
Donna was very easy to communicate with, and the house had everything we needed. Donna was a helpful and responsive host. I would recommend this home to anyone traveling to Jeff City. We found southern charm and hospitality in the heart of Missouri! Our private room in Marrianne's home was gorgeous with a rustic flare.
This was our first experience with airbnb and we may find it hard to go back to traditional hotel rooms. With a private entrance, private room, huge bathroom with a custom shower that reminds me of the ones in Vegas hotels, my husband and I wanted to stay another night.
We were planning to sit by the pond or have coffee on the 2nd floor deck right outside of our room the next morning, but it felt so good to sleep in. The bed was comfy, with soft linens, and the room was spacious. I can't say enough about Marrianne and Mike I didn't know what to expect, I can be a skeptic We were late going to an event because we just enjoyed chatting with them and their friends on the main level.
Their home is a hidden gem, I just hope it will be available on our next trip! Marrianne's place is a dream place, to say the least.
The room is very spacious and the bed is big and comfy. The bathroom is also very nice. Very spacious shower and a bath tub too! I chatted with Marrianne and her husband and they are lovely people. I highly recommend this room and host. This was a very nice space exactly as pictured.
The bathroom is especially nice. Marrianne's place was perfect for our overnight stay while traveling to Texas! She and her husband went out of their way to make sure we had instructions to get checked in and to make sure we were very comfortable! Their home is lovely and so many beautiful touches in the space we stayed in!
Everything was very comfortable and very clean! We highly recommend their place! Every room had access to either a private or semi private bathroom.
